The Heartland Football Association (HFA) is an 11-man Independent American Football League based in the Mid-West of the United States. The HFA has member teams located in Missouri, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
We have made it our mission to provide adult football players with the most professional football experience possible to continue playing this great sport.
The HFA is also developing a strategic growth plan that will allow for continued expansion throughout the region at a manageable, yet meaningful pace.
Now is an exciting time to join the HFA. In addition to quality markets and a strong stable of HFA brands, the league is implementing a regional business plan that could lead to broadcasting, profitable merchandising, and national sponsorships, thus increasing the reach and appeal of the HFA brand; as well as, its member teams and their players. Bettering the opportunities for everyone involved.
This makes for a powerful league with many types of fan cultures and experiences. In the HFA, no two markets are alike, and that’s a good thing.
We are also extremely focused on building a league of tremendous diversity and parity.
The first step in the expansion process is for potential new members to complete the HFA Membership Application. Potential new members will then give a presentation in-person at the annual meetings, or on one of the Board of Directors' regular teleconferences.
The criteria they review related to a new owner is as follows:
Financial security
Experience in business
Reference Check
Furthermore, a new team owner/ownership group must be prepared to:
Complete an HFA application which will include much of the information listed above for the Commissioner and League Counsel to review.
