HFA Announces Week 2 Players of the Week
After an incredible voter turnout of over 1000 total votes and 3 very close races, we are proud to announce our “Players of the Week” for week 2 of the 2022 season!
Quarterback, Jay Swenson, Omaha Stockmen - HFA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Stockmen Quarterback, Jay Swenson put on a scoring clinic against the Southern Iowa Tigers in Week 2 as he went 8/9 for a total of 136 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns; as well as, 6 rushes for 66 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Jay is our Offensive Player of the Week!
Defensive Back, TreNez Wilkinson, Missouri Swarm & Defensive Lineman, Jordan Smith, Newton Nite Hawks - CO HFA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In a tie, we have a co-defensive player of the week this week. Swarm Defensive Back, TreNez Wilkinson had 2 tackles, 2 passes defended, and 2 interceptions against the Missouri Valley Pitbulls this past Saturday. Also, Nite Hawks Defensive Lineman Jordan Smith recorded another elite showing for the second week in a row. He notched 2.5 sacks, 6 Solo Tackles, and 6 assisted tackles, which includes 4 tackles for a loss against a powerhouse St. Paul Pioneers program out of the NEFL.
Punter, Billy Messenger, Newton Nite Hawks - HFA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
And finally Special Teams Player of the Week, Nite Hawks Punter, Billy Messenger had a great outing in week 2 versus the St. Paul Pioneers. While he also had a great performance on defense this week, it was ultimately overshadowed by his great play at Punter. He continuously won the field position game for the Nite Hawks, having 3 punts land inside the 20 and another great coffin corner kick that pinned St. Paul inside their 5-yard line. Messenger's punting proved to be a deciding factor in the Nite Hawk's defensive battle, as they pulled through with a 14-12 victory.
Congratulations to all of our players of the week!
